The first round of recordings... started when we were still a 4 piece known by some as Paincage (though not by our choice). The music was recorded in January 1995, live to one track in the basement of 5 Arlington. Take note of that great guitar tone... miked with a pair of cheap headphones from the Greyhound bus. The 4-track was temperamental and the tape got stuck, so the vocals were delayed. By the time we got it fixed, Sean was gone. Adam tried some Circus type vocals that very few ever heard, then we all gave it a shot, finishing it off in Adam's bathroom. We made 100 copies or so, and now it reappears in the ether. Enjoy.

Matt Camirand - bass, Adam Young - guitar, Andy Cant - drums. We all "sing".
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
I haven't heard anything as just completely perfectly formed out of the gate--every decision the right one, what to include but more what to exclude--maybe ever. Don't know who Sault is, but they do not sound like they could be anyone who hasn't paid some dues to get this good. Or signed some Satanic contracts. 100% confidence, and it sounds 110% earned.
